Mission
MacEwan Writing Centre supports writing across the disciplines, encouraging students as they accomplish their writing goals and empowering them to become self-reflexive, persuasive, and confident communicators.
Vision
We foster conversations about writing and communities of writers. Our goal is to promote a writing-focused culture of curiosity, dialogue, and inclusion. We strive to serve students of all levels, disciplines, and backgrounds.
Values
Student-led
Our services meet students where they are, embracing their identities, abilities, learning preferences, and objectives.
Conversation-based
Our peer-to-peer writing consultations are conversation-based, guiding students to make their own choices about writing.
Individualized
We recognize that many forms of communication, writing, and English exist, and we support students in developing their own voices, depending on their objectives and specific contexts.
Inclusive
We recognize that Writing Centres have often excluded Indigenous, racialized, gender-diverse, and disability communities. We strive to continuously educate ourselves on how to serve the needs of all MacEwan community members. We expect students to uphold MacEwan’s Student Code of Conduct and demonstrate respect for others.
